Chinese iron ore imports in July up by 6pct YoY

China Knowledge quoted according to the latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs that China, the world largest steel maker saw its iron ore imports increase 6.5%YoY to 54.55 million metric tons in July this year.

The imports in July reflected a growth of 6.8% from the previous month.

In the first seven months of this year, the country iron ore imports amounted to 390 million tonnes up by 7.9%YoY.

Average import price stood at USD 162.8 per tonne during the period up by 39.1%YoY and reflecting the highest level ever recorded.
